WGEP’s mission is to empower young people, particularly women and girls, in rural areas of sub-Saharan Africa to build better lives and foster more equitable communities. Since our founding in 2004, our girls’ education, literacy, and leadership programs have impacted over 20,000 women and girls in 172 of the most impoverished communities in Senegal and Kenya.
Partnering with dynamic local leaders in rural communities, WGEP employs a range of targeted interventions at key junctures in a girl’s development to ensure that the structural barriers preventing girls from attending and succeeding in school are dismantled.
